Grouped by the lab that built the model — not who serves it. A model made in China is shown as China-origin even when accessed through a US host like OpenRouter, because data-retention law follows the maker. 638 distinct models.
Models built by Chinese labs operate under PRC data regulation — including the Data Security Law, Personal Information Protection Law (PIPL), and security-review and data-localization requirements. Prompts and outputs sent to China-hosted APIs may be subject to government access or retention obligations. This is not a judgment of model quality — many Chinese-origin models are excellent and openly licensed — but you should weigh it before sending sensitive, regulated, or proprietary data.
Origin is inferred from the model maker. Community fine-tunes and merges of mixed lineage are marked “Unknown.” Spot a misattribution? Let us know.
